Year 9 Specialisms
Curriculum Intent
In addition to studying the full Key Stage 3 National Curriculum throughout years 7-9, we also provide our pupils with the opportunity to gain further experience from a range of specialisms subjects in year 9. The intention of these specialisms is to give pupils exposure to new subjects and skills, equipping all pupils with additional knowledge and cultural capital and enabling them to discover their interests and talents.
Pupils will specialise in 3 subjects, which they have a particular interest in. They will study each of these for a 13-week block. This enables students to develop a deeper understanding of KS3 content in areas that they are passionate about. This also provides an opportunity for pupils to find out more about the subjects and develop key skills to be successful when starting their GCSE courses in Y10.
