What were you most worried about in terms of starting Tudor Grange?

I was most worried about mixing with students from other Primary Schools; however, I made lots of new friends who have been with me throughout my time at Tudor.

Alice (6th form)

I was worried about there being a lot of older children and they may be mean to the new year 7s starting, but after starting, everyone seems nice and even the older children from other year groups will sometimes join in and pay games like football and rugby during break times. It turns out I didn’t need to worry about this at all!

Oliver (Year 7)

I was worried about the size of the school and being able to find my way around. When I started it only took a few days to get used to the surroundings

Owen (Year 8)

What is the best thing about being a Tudor Grange student?

The best thing about being a Tudor Grange student is the lovely teachers and having a close bond with the teachers; they really take a pride in our work and inspire us to achieve more.

Alice (6th form)

The best thing I found about being a student at TGAW is that there are loads of opportunities for everyone to do something-SAS has been brilliant and I have had a go at doing things I have never done before like golf and first aid. SAS afternoons on a Wednesday is a nice break from the everyday work and I don’t know if any other schools give their students these opportunities.

The opportunities and sports that are available

Owen (Year 8)

What was your experience of making new friends?

The Induction week activities and SAS made it easy to make new friends.

Alice (6th form)

When I first started at TGAW I found that people tended to stick with people they knew from either their Primary school or from doing out of school activities. But after a short time, and seeing lots of different people in different classes, you get talking to others and make friends with them

Oliver (Year 7)

I found it easy to make new friends, I already had some going in to the school so it was easier, and everyone was in the same boat.

Owen (Year 8)

How did you cope with the size of the school?

Coming from a large Primary School, the size of Tudor was not a problem. Older students helped find our way around in the first weeks. The layout of the toilets were a little bit confusing at first!

Alice (6th form)

It may seem a bit scary and big to start with, but it is actually really easy to find your way around the school and to your different classes. Also, there are always teachers around that you can ask if you are not sure where you are going.

Oliver (Year 7)

How have you found the work, lessons and teachers?

The teachers are lovely, encouraging and supportive – they motivate you to succeed and reach your goals. The level of work is good and the DIRT tasks encourage us to improve. Lessons are nicely organised, often practical and are carried out in a positive learning environment.

Alice (6th form)

The teachers are all really nice and friendly, and the lessons are clear so that you know exactly what you are doing. The work is harder than at Primary school, but the teachers will help you if you need it, and a lot of the work is a more interesting than what I did in Year 6

Oliver (Year 7)

What should year 6 students be really excited about?

Year 6 students should be excited about meeting new people and learning new things and all of the new opportunities ahead. Being treated maturely is a big bonus

Alice (6th form)

The Year 6 students should be really excited about starting TGAW because there are so many good opportunities, there is a lot of choice of what to eat at lunch time, there are loads of clubs to choose from either during lunch time or after school and you will meet some new friends

Oliver (Year 7)

The school trips, the teachers are really nice. Lots of sports opportunities.
