Wondering what to do after your GCSE’s?
Here’s a simple rundown of everything you need to know.
By law you must stay in some form of education or training until you’re 18, but there are several ways you can do this depending on what suits you best.
Your main post-16 options include:
- Continuing your education at a college or sixth form.
- Starting a training programme such as an apprenticeship or traineeship.
- Working while studying part-time, combining employment with continued learning or training.
Throughout the year, Year 11 students have many opportunities to access advice and support, including assemblies, one‑to‑one guidance meetings, open events, and our Careers Fair.

Work Experience
Work experience plays an important role in helping students develop the skills, confidence and attitudes needed for the world of work. It gives you the opportunity to understand your strengths, areas for improvement, and how to work effectively with others in a professional environment. The entire experience is invaluable preparation for life beyond school.
All Year 10 & 12 students are expected to complete one week of unpaid work experience and are responsible for securing their own placement for the designated week in the summer term.
Many students find that references from their work experience placements are extremely beneficial when applying for jobs, apprenticeships, or college courses in the future. Some students have even secured part‑time or full‑time jobs directly as a result of their placements, highlighting just how valuable the experience can be.
Worcestershire Education Business Partnership (EBP)
EBP works closely with us to strengthen our links between education and local businesses. They provide access to an extensive database of over 4,500 employers who offer work experience placements to our students.
Before any placement begins, EBP carries out a full, qualified health and safety check to ensure that every workplace meets the required standards and is safe for students.
Students will have already received their login details and passwords to access the EBP system. If you need any support navigating the database, please let us know.
